Actual quote from a discussion with a believer: they said it was impressive that Christianity has not been spread by the sword, unlike other religions (Islam being the one they mentioned by name). While of course, Christianity has, but who cares about troublesome facts?

It just bugs me that people don’t understand how human biology works.

I’ve had many people claim that the bible has influenced every literary accomplishment and has been influenced by no other texts.  Many parts of the old testament, including the ten commandments, can be found in Egyptian texts and, more specifically, in the Book of the Dead

So this person (red) I know on FB posted that old chain mail about Einstein aruging with his teacher about God: http://www.snopes.com/religion/einstein.asp
Along with that she made a comment about how “creationism should be taught in schools because children won’t believe that there was just a BANG and suddenly everything was there.” I hadn’t screencapped the initial comment before she deleted it, but here’s the hilarious conversation that followed.
—-Admin Note—- I’m gonna let this go through this time, but for future reference facebook conversations with obnoxious believers should go to stfubelievers.tumblr.com

I know this isn’t in the traditional FYRP format, but I just had to share this. I couldn’t press enter because I need to keep pretending I’m Christian until my fanatical family no longer has control over me.

Seriously, if you can make it through 1 and 2 Nephi without getting sick of more bloody Isaiah, you’re better than me.

An argument I often hear for the problems with Mosaic Law is that God had to lower his standards in order to create a law palatable to the ancient Hebrews, implying that the ancient Hebrews couldn’t understand a higher order of ethics and that God is okay with less than ideal ethics, despite the law being described as perfect in Psalm 19:7.
