inssult asked: buddhism is not a religion.

This isn’t the first time I’ve heard this and after some thought I’ve come to the conclusion that it is both a religion and philosophy. So, if you don’t think so then fine, but I think it is.

1) Let me give credit where credit’s due, that was a submission from one of our followers not me. 2) That guy’s name is Dante Shepard and you can find him at survivingtheworld[dot]net.

sendingicebergs asked: I read Neil Tyson Degrassi's quote on how every time a religious group has tried to predict events in the physical world (such as when the end will come) they've been notoriously wrong every time. Taking that, I found a very sound mind in rejecting heaven and hell. Just thought to share.

iamvishnu asked: when someone says "oh they're not a true christian/muslim/jew/etc." because they don't conform to their idea of what a true member of their religion is, it's a logical fallacy called the "no true scotsman" fallacy.

Yes, it is. Here’s some more information for anyone who didn’t know this and would like to know more.

imagin-eeri asked: I have always been so frustrated when I hear religious persons claim that "Oh, they're not a true [insert religion here]" when discussing religion. My roommate, love her to pieces, does this where Christians are concerned--like "a true Christian is loving and kind; people like Michelle Bachman (for example) aren't true Christians because she is judgmental, etc." It's frustrating. You can't deny the harm religious persons have caused in the name of their religion based on "they're not a true __"

I totally understand where you’re coming from. My entire family does this to me even though I’ve explained the fallacy to them. It’s frustrating when you’re trying to have a reasonable conversation with them. So now I just don’t say anything when religion comes up.

frishtaa asked: It's NOT ok to burn a woman, you moron. It's a fucking sin to burn a woman. People only use ''islam'' as an excuse to do what the fuck they want. If they were real muslims then they would understand that harming another human being is a sin. Urgh. And burning a book: That's just disrespectful, no matter what holy book you burn.

It’s NOT ok to burn a woman, you moron.

Note, emphasis on “you moron”. Now would it be ok if I said something slightly rude or would everyone jump down my throat again?

People only use ”islam” as an excuse to do what the fuck they want.

Ok, but don’t all religious people do this at some point? Honestly, I haven’t met a religious person who hasn’t done this at least once.

If they were real muslims then they would understand that harming another human being is a sin.

And burning a book: That’s just disrespectful, no matter what holy book you burn.

This I agree with. Burning holy books is just useless pot stirring. The best way to piss off religious people is to use their own holy books against them. Also, the book nerd in me is not comfortable burning any books.

verisimilitude-and-veracity asked: Why do people not understand that tagging is a helpful way to get the word out there. Just because people don't post anything exciting on the Judaism tag but you doesn't mean you can't tag your stuff that way. Anything poking fun at religion is, to be frank, a damned good thing, because hopefully it will be the final crack in the dam of religion that's holding back human progress. The sheeple need to wake up.

Tbh, I have no idea why everyone is upset about the tagging and the way I answered the damn question. These people are like the epitome of being butthurt. Anyway, thanks for the support. :)

maygpie asked: I'm sorry but I'm unfollowing. As a non-religious person this blog was originally funny but it's only become antagonistic and rude. I don't know if this was due to a change in admins or what, but you're crossing the border from amusing to insulting and that's not okay. I'd hate to see religion pigeon become a hate blog.

Well, we’re sorry to see you leave, but as always, if there are RP’s that you don’t like you could always submit your own. As for the answers to the questions, I’m actually having a shitty day hence the shitty attitude. If the rudeness you’re referring to is the answer to the question about tagging guess what it really wasn’t all that rude. I said no and non-sarcastically told them to have a good day when I could have said something a whole lot worse.
